On Thursday, December 1st, Lumacare hosted its annual holiday networking and fundraising event, Innovation in Seniors’ Care.

Professionals in senior care, community members, and agency partners joined us for food and drink, as well as some informative and entertaining presentations. CJ Calvert, author of Living an Exceptional Life and President of CalvertTraining delivered a fantastic talk on the importance of seniors’ care, new industry trends from around the globe. In his words, “Innovation in Seniors Care focuses not on duration of life, but quality of life.”

Executive Director Susan Doyle filled our guests in on some exciting and innovative projects Lumacare has taken on. These include our new PSW app, designed to improve and streamline client care, the developments of our LGBT resource and toolkit for community partners focused on improving visibility and inclusivity for identifying older adults, as well as our intergenerational “Kindred Care” program, which fosters relationships between children and seniors as well as independent growth.

Our entertainment portion of the evening was provided by none other than up-and-coming performer and personality, Braydon Calvert. This 9-year-old took centre stage as our game show host for the evening and put forward his best Alex Trebek impression as our guests played through a spirited game of Jeopardy: Innovation in Seniors’ Care edition.

All the while, our guests enjoyed bidding on some fantastic silent auction prizes, contributed by individual donors and local businesses. We also launched the agency’s new #memorymovement bracelets, with proceeds going towards the organization.

We’d like to extend a huge thanks to all those who contributed towards the success of our event:

Thanks to all those who attended this event – we hope to see you at our next one!
