Ontario Community Support Association Commitment to Care Awards honors the unsung heroes of our healthcare system. The OCSA awards provide the opportunity for community support providers to stand in the spotlight and celebrate their accomplishments!

At this year’s OCSA Annual Conference held on October 19, our very own volunteer, Marilyn Burns, received the Awards Commitment to Volunteer Service. Marilyn was nominated by Lumacare for her extraordinary commitment to our program.  She has volunteered with Lumacare for the past 5 years working 3 days per week.  Marilyn’s client-centred approach, along with her positive attitude and compassionate nature, enriches the lives of our frail and socially isolated clients.  Marilyn has developed outstanding rapports with our clients over the years and is familiar with their preferences and home situations. This familiarity enables her to notice subtle changes in our client’s wellbeing so that caregivers and Lumacare programs can address these nuances to ensure client safety.  Marilyn consistently goes above and beyond in her role.  The amazing work Marilyn does goes on behind the scenes, but without her, the program would not be what it is today.  Congratulations Marilyn Burns!
