Healthier Living
Centre (HLC)

The Healthier Living Centre (HLC) is for older adults 55+ who want to be physically active and fit; meet new friends, participate in health workshops, enjoy congregate dining and attend outings and events. Our excellent variety of fitness programs, guest speakers, congregate dining and special outings will keep your mind engaged.

With HLC Membership you have access to free fitness programming (see list below with descriptions) and receive invitations to all congregate dining programs, including special events and outings.

Cost: FREE adult exercise classes and congregate dining with membership. Charge may apply for one-time special events and outings.

Congregate Dining Drop-In Program

Our Congregate Dining experience is a registered drop-in program that offers older adults the opportunity to engage in social, educational and recreational activities. Stimulating activities are part of the program.

Exercise Classes

Lumacare is expanding its fitness programs for older adults 64+ to other sites in our catchment area. We are providing exercise classes at:

Monday at 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm (Gentle Fitness)
This low impact class incorporates a mixture of cardio, balance, using strengthening (seated and standing) exercises for a total body workout.

Thursday at 1:30 pm – 2:30 pm (Fitness Fusion Exercise) @ Delta Family Resource Centre
This class is designed for all levels where clients start off with low intensity exercises and gradually work their way up to a higher intensity; stretching, flexibility, balance and resistance training, core exercise and aerobics using balls are incorporated.

Friday at 2:00 pm– 3:00 pm (Soca Fusion Dance) @ Delta Family Resource Centre
A mixture of Caribbean, Latin, African and Indian dance moves are combined together for a total body workout.

Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.
This low impact class incorporates a mixture of cardio, balance, using strengthening (seated and standing) exercises for a total body workout.

Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
This class is designed for all levels where clients start off with low intensity exercises and gradually work their way up to a higher intensity; stretching, flexibility, balance and resistance training, core exercise and aerobics using balls are incorporated.

This class is a low-impact but high-energy workout where clients learn choreographed movements to music.

Thursday at 10:30 am – 11:30 am (Walking Workout)
This class focuses on varying walking exercises to strengthen the muscles of the lower body.

This class is a low-impact but high-energy workout where clients learn choreographed movements to music. Now featuring Tai Chi movements, which can help improve strength, mobility, and function for seniors!

Prior to participating in any of the Healthier Living Centre programs or services, all participants must register as an HLC Member by filling out the registration form and waiver below. The form is submitted in-person to our office.
