To: All Lumacare Stakeholders
From:   The Senior Management Team at Lumacare

On March 11, 2020, The World Health Organization announced that the world is being faced with the COVID-19 pandemic.  Lumacare’s main priority is to keep our clients, caregivers, staff, volunteers and all stakeholders safe and supported during this challenging time. We continue to align all of our actions with the directives of the World Health Organization (WHO), Toronto Public Health (TPH) and the Ministry of Health guidelines for Home and Community Care for COVID-19.

After careful consideration, Lumacare made the difficult decision to cancel non-essential services effective Wednesday, March 18, 2020. A revised service provision was put in place and was applicable until Sunday, April 5, 2020. As an essential service provider, Lumacare has an extended service plan that is effective from Monday, April 6 to Sunday, May 3, 2020.

Our staff is actively working to provide essential support to our clients and the community at large. We are continuing to support our most vulnerable clients, many who do not have means  of accessing needed essential services and supplies. Based on clients’ needs, Lumacare will be offering most services free of cost or at significantly subsided rates.

We will continue to align our operations with the directives from our health authorities and will keep you updated as we learn more information.

Protect Yourself and Others:

The most effective way to prevent the spread of germs that cause respiratory illnesses is to take everyday precautions:

  • Ensure you are sneezing and coughing into your sleeve
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth
  • Avoid contact with people who are sick
  • Practice social distancing and remain at home as much as possible
  • Stay home and rest if you are sick
