Lumacare serves 3,500+ vulnerable clients and community members annually, with a wide continuum of services ranging from  Adult Day Programs, Meals on Wheels, Transportation services, Home at Last, Healthier Living, Meals on Wheels, Home Care and Assisted Living Services that check on the safety of older adult’s multiple times a day. Lumacare enhances, engages, and empowers the members of our diverse community by providing equitable, accessible and high-quality services.

Many of our clients are living in priority neighbourhoods and are unable to stockpile or go to the grocery store themselves during this time of crisis. A big portion of the community we serve is now isolated at home due to the directives of our Government, and many of them do not have the needed resources for daily living. 

Currently, seniors have been advised to self-isolate and remain in their homes only interacting with others for essential reasons. Seniors are being advised to seek support online, over the phone, and have others complete essential errands for them where possible.

Lumacare strongly believes in keeping our community of seniors and caregivers connected through this time of need. As such, Lumacare has created a Facebook Group that can be found by searching ‘COVID-19 Response’ which seeks to target seniors and caregivers in the North York community who are currently living under quarantine or self-isolation. 

The Facebook group will act as a resource portal for our clients and caregivers to receive updates surrounding COVID-19, as well as activities and resources that may be accessed online to keep your loved ones busy and active. Lumacare will also be communicating about the various initiatives the organization has taken to protect our vulnerable and frail community during this time of hardship.
