On September 2nd 2016, our family at Lumacare lost a dear volunteer and friend, Rose Paglia.

Craft Group at Diners Club

On behalf of Rose’s fellow volunteers and Lumacare staff, our thoughts and prayers go out to her family and friends. Rose was known throughout the organization and the broader community as a friendly and caring individual with a knack for organizing and mobilizing others.

Rose was proud to lead a group of her peers with the Lumacare Craft Group for over 25 years, raising thousands of dollars which helped to deliver essential programs and services to seniors. Rose was passionate about her work with the Craft Group which was evident in the many hours she spent shopping for supplies, communicating and organizing, liaising with Lumacare staff and coordinating craft sales throughout the community. It is estimated that her leadership has raised almost $40,000.00 over the last 25 years for Lumacare, which is truly amazing.

In 2014, Rose was presented with the inaugural Lumacare Volunteer of the Year Award at our 40th Anniversary Gala. To celebrate Rose’s life, her contributions to her community and her natural ability to bring light into the lives of everyone she touched, we would like to announce that Lumacare’s Annual Volunteer of the Year Award will now be called the Rose Paglia Award in her honour.

A message to Rose: Thank you for your time, commitment, dedication, leadership, smiles and laughter… and for being such a wonderful ambassador for our agency for so many years.
