Community members, partners, staff, clients, and friends gathered at 2974 Islington Avenue, the site of Lumacare’s newest Transitional Adult Day Program on Tuesday, January 27th 2015 to celebrate the official grand opening.
The Islington Avenue Transitional Adult Day Program runs three days a week and offers exercise classes for free to older adults in the Humber Summit community.
With representation from all levels of government-including the Honorable Judy Sgro, MP York West, Mario Sergio, MPP York West & Minister Responsible for Seniors, and Councillor Giorgio Mammoliti, Ward 7, as well as local media SNAP North York the event was well attended. A total of 30+ people were in attendance including Lumacare partners, funders, supporters, staff members, and clients.
Interim Executive Director Jeff Gruchy and Director of Programs Danielle Dang shared information about Lumacare’s growth and the importance of expanding our reach and connecting with seniors in need, caregivers and family members in the Humber River Summit area.
Lumacare was also presented with a generous donation from Toronto Paramedic Services who chose to donate to Lumacare as their United Way organization of choice. We are very appreciative of their thoughtfulness and look forward to partnering with them to strengthen our communities.
We look forward to continuing to expand our programs, services, and reach in the communities we serve which would not be possible without the support of our partners, funders and stakeholders.
Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate this special day and for your on-going support.
