On February 26, 2019, the Ontario Government introduced Bill 74, also known as The People’s Health Care Act, 2019 to enable a truly integrated health care system.  The legislation aims to tackle hallway medicine and create seamless transitions for patients. The bill came into force in April of 2019 and created Ontario Health, a new agency which will oversee Ontario Health Teams – OHTs.   OHTs are groups of health care providers who will be responsible for delivering a full continuum of care to patients to improve access and provide a higher quality of care to their communities.  Currently, twelve health care agencies are in the process of applying to become the North West Toronto OHT with Humber River Hospital as the lead agency.   Lumacare is proud to be one of twelve partners agencies who are working together on this full application process!
