On Wednesday, October 11th, Lumaccare hosted our 11th Annual CSS Networking Breakfast. Over 80 community support services providers gathered at 15 Clubhouse Court from 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. to network, connect and share resources with one another to better help older adults access the programs and services they require.

The theme of this year’s event was Elder Abuse Awareness. Break the silence; come out and chat. Both our presentations and networking activity were centred around sharing resources and information about Elder Abuse.

Lumacare’s Elder Abuse Committee’s Board Chair Arani Nedasan shared Lumacare’s resources to better recognize and report Elder Abuse. Elder Abuse Ontario‘s Regional Consultant, Rochella Vassell gave a very informative presentation about the Ontario Strategy to Combat Elder Abuse.

During the networking activity, attendees read various case studies related to elder abuse and shared the resources they have available at their respected organizations to provide the best help to the senior.
