On Wednesday, October 10th, Lumacare hosted our 12th Annual CIAS Networking Breakfast. Over 80 community support service providers gathered at 948 Sheppard Avenue West from 8:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. To network, connect and share resources with one another to better help older adults access the programs and services they require.
The theme of this year’s event was Fall Prevention; Ready…Steady…Balance. Our presentations and networking activities were centred on sharing resources and information about new methods and technologies that can determine if someone is at high risk of falling and the measures they can take to reduce falls.
Lumacare’s Falls Prevention Committee’s Chair Bobbi Ulanicki shared Lumacare’s resources to better recognize and report fall prevention. Susan McNeill, Manager, Implementation Science International Affairs and Best Practice Guidelines Centre Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario, presented best practices and key resources for fall prevention. Danielle Dang, Senior Director, Planning & Care Initiatives presented the Q-TUG mobility and falls risk assessment technology.
During the networking event, attendees read various case studies related to Fall Prevention and shared the resources they have available at their respected organizations to provide the best help to the senior.
