Lumacare recognizes that older adults are at times vulnerable to abuse and has pledged to work as an advocate and build its expertise in creating awareness. This includes educating the community on recognizing the signs and symptoms of elder abuse, and streamlining access to resources and supports since 2008.

If you have come across this page and find yourself a victim to elder abuse, or are looking for resources to learn more about elder abuse and support someone you care deeply about you have come to the right place.

If you or someone you know is in a dangerous situation and there is an emergency, please reach out to your local police department or call 9-1-1.

Elder Abuse Prevention Guidebooks

In an effort to educate the community and provide resources that empower people to take action against elder abuse, Lumacare has created a series of guidebooks and a fullsome elder abuse prevention toolkit.

The resources have been created to provide you with the tools to develop awareness about elder abuse, assess risk and respond effectively. By making these resources available, gaps in services, as well as barriers to support and care, can be addressed to eradicate elder abuse in our community and help older adults live with the highest quality of life possible.

Make sure to check out our other webpage on elder abuse that provides additional information on types of abuse, as well as our elder abuse prevention brochure.

Below, you will find two guidebook editions that are available for download free of change. Should you be interested in purchasing our fullsome toolkit, please reach out to us at info@lumacare.ca.
